The general area of my research is agricultural Structures and Environment (S&E). This specialization covers structural design and environmental control for plat and animal production and storage of agricultural and good products. In the structures area, my research focuses primarily on bulk solids systems, including mechanical behaviour of granular materials, loads in grain storage bins, and discrete element and finite element modeling of bulk solids systems. I have severed on the technical committees of ASABE responsible for developing standards for design of grain bins. In the environment area, my research focuses on: controlled environment for animal production, odour management in livestock operations, airborne transmission of animal diseases, and greenhouse production in northern climate conditions. I have served on the technical committees of ASABE responsible for developing standards for odour measurement.
